Nice-Pak Named Manufacturer of the Year as Wigan Facility Celebrates Ten-Year Milestone
Nice-Pak International has been named Manufacturing Business of the Year at the Wigan Borough Business Awards, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of its purpose-built manufacturing facility in Wigan and 18 years of investment in the borough.
The company was also Highly Commended in the Sustainable Business of the Year category, recognising its ongoing commitment to responsible manufacturing, environmental improvement and sustainable product innovation.
As Europe’s largest manufacturer of plastic-free wet wipes, Nice-Pak produces products for many of the UK’s leading retailers and brand owners.
The company plays a significant role in the local manufacturing sector, operating one of the largest manufacturing facilities in the borough and employing 260 people from Wigan and the surrounding areas.
The award recognises Nice-Pak’s commitment to manufacturing excellence, innovation and responsible business practices, alongside its significant contribution to the local economy and wider community.
Since establishing its presence in Wigan in 2008 and opening its state-of-the-art Westwood Park facility in 2016, Nice-Pak has continued to invest in advanced manufacturing technologies, employee development and sustainable production methods. Innovation remains central to both manufacturing and product development, driving continuous improvements in product performance, quality, safety and environmental impact.

Sustainability continues to be a key focus for the business. In 2020, Nice-Pak made a global commitment to provide customers with more sustainable product and packaging solutions. By 2025, 93% of its wipes were plastic-free and 89% of its packaging was fully recyclable, alongside the increased use of post-consumer recycled materials.

The company is now progressing towards its ambition of achieving 100% recycled content across its packaging portfolio and carbon neutrality across Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030.

Quality and consumer safety remain at the heart of operations. The Wigan facility operates within stringent quality management systems, holds a prestigious BRC A rating, and undergoes regular audits by customers and independent bodies to ensure the highest manufacturing standards are maintained.
Nice-Pak’s commitment extends beyond manufacturing. The business actively supports local charities and community organisations, including Wigan and Leigh Hospice, The Deanery, Andy’s Man Club and The Brick, helping to make a positive difference across the borough.
