The power of a great wipe proposition

It’s great to see baby essentials receiving attention in the wider retail and  consumer press following the recent relaunch of baby wipes by a major retailer.

Baby wipes may not always grab the headlines, but they remain one of the most frequently purchased products within the baby and family category, helping to drive shopper engagement and loyalty.  They are a true household staple, used daily by parents and carers, and are often among the first items shoppers add to their baskets.

For retail buyers, this makes wipes far more than just another SKU on the shelf.

A strong baby wipes proposition can help attract and retain family shoppers, support basket spend and reinforce value credentials. Families are looking for products they trust, delivered at the right quality and price point, and retailers that get this balance right are often rewarded with repeat footfall and long-term loyalty.

The recent media coverage is also a reminder that baby essentials continue to be highly relevant to consumers, particularly at a time when household budgets remain under pressure. Categories that combine necessity, value and frequency of purchase are strategically important, and baby wipes sit firmly within that space.

At Nice-Pak, we’ve been leading innovation and manufacturing in wipes for 40 years. Backed by expert R&D, category and operations teams, we partner with retailers to develop category-leading private label ranges that deliver for both shoppers and retailers. Today, we are proud to hold a majority share of the UK  private label baby wipes market, making us the trusted partner behind many of the UK’s most successful private label baby wipe propositions.

As suppliers and retailers continue to invest in meeting the needs of modern families, it’s encouraging to see greater visibility for products that genuinely matter in everyday life.

Never underestimate the power of a great wipe proposition.

If you’re looking for fresh ideas, category insight, innovation or growth opportunities, let’s talk.

Hand Wipe Sales Rise Sharply During Summer Months

Hand hygiene sales can be just as strong in summer as during the traditional cold and flu season. As consumers spend more time outdoors at festivals, family gatherings, days out and alfresco dining, demand for convenient on-the-go hygiene solutions increases.

While hand hygiene gained prominence during the pandemic, it remains an important year-round health consideration. With hands carrying an average of 3,200 germs, shoppers continue to seek practical ways to keep their hands clean when handling food, eating on the go or spending time in shared public spaces where soap and water may not be available.

The UK hand wipes sector is now worth £14.1 million*, with sales value growing by 48% since December 2021, following increased consumer focus on hygiene habits. The category currently accounts for 13.4 million packs.

Retailers have responded to this demand by allocating increased space to hand hygiene products at till points and within high-traffic areas of store, encouraging impulse purchases and cross-category shopping. Strategic placement during key seasonal periods, such as summer and ahead of the cold and flu season, continues to support category growth and reinforce the importance of hand hygiene products as an everyday essential.

Nice ‘N CLEAN Wipes SecureFlush™ – moist toilet tissue that breaks apart even faster than toilet paper

As seen in:

Nice-Pak launches industry-first moist toilet tissue that breaks apart even faster than toilet roll, with Nice ‘N CLEAN Wipes SecureFlush™

UK consumers now have access to a moist toilet tissue that breaks apart even faster than toilet roll when flushed, following a major industry breakthrough.

Nice-Pak International has launched Nice ‘N CLEAN Wipes SecureFlush™ , which is strong enough to clean yet breaks apart rapidly when flushed.

With 8 out of 10 consumers still concerned about the risk of moist toilet tissue blocking their household pipes*, this new innovative product will be a game-changer.

The revolutionary technology has been verified as Fine to Flush and independently tested to confirm that it breaks apart even faster than toilet roll, an industry first. In addition, the wipes are plant-based, plastic-free, biodegradable, and are packed in recyclable packaging.

The launch will be supported by a heavyweight above-the-line, social media, online and instore POS & trial-price campaign.

Kevin Verbruggen, marketing director at Nice-Pak, said: “To create moist toilet tissue that breaks apart even faster than toilet roll is a significant achievement for our team, who spent several years carrying out the comprehensive research and development.”

“Our new SecureFlush™ technology has the ability to add category value, as we attract more shoppers to buy moist toilet tissue, and trade existing shoppers up to an added-value brand.

“The product has recently launched in the USA and is performing brilliantly. Now it’s time for UK consumers to experience a fresher clean, while doing the right thing for our environment.”

Nice-Pak has also launched new baby wipes and toddler moist toilet tissue wipes in the Nice ‘N CLEAN wipes range, with a promise of being ‘Nice for you, and nice for our planet too’.

Kevin added: “Our new baby wipes are larger than average baby wipes, with our innovative three-layer NatureComfy™ natural fabric providing a soft, thick & gentle clean.

“As with our moist toilet tissue, they are plastic-free, biodegradable and use recyclable packaging. The baby wipes are made with more than 99 per cent pure water and are dermatologically tested and paediatrician approved.”

“Our toddler moist toilet tissue wipes help children learn to clean their own bottom successfully. The hypoallergenic wipes are 99 per cent water, dermatologically tested and paediatrician approved. With a fun design on pack, they’ve been developed with both toddlers and parents in mind.”

Kevin added: “As the makers of the first wet wipe, we continue to pioneer developments in the category and exceed industry expectations, all through our continued commitment to sustainability and innovation.

“Nice ‘N CLEAN wipes offer a range of added-value products across several categories, based upon consumer insight and our reputation for innovation. We understand that people want to make the right choices based on the environment as well as do the best by their and their family’s needs.”

Lockdown easing: Sani Hands provides convenient hygiene

We are pleased to share our feature and advert from The Grocer’s Guide to Household, hygiene and personal care.

The release comes as England prepares to progress to the final step of the lockdown roadmap on Monday, with Boris Johnson urging the public to continue to be cautious, as the guidance will now emphasise personal responsibility*. The guide focuses on hygiene solutions in advance of lockdown ending restrictions across UK nations over the coming weeks.

In the feature Nice-Pak’s Commercial Director, Ian Anderson states “Safeguards such as enhanced hygiene measures are likely to stay in place beyond Covid-19. As we emerge from lockdown, our latest Kantar data shows the demand for wipes has remained strong, as people look for effective and convenient access to hygiene on-the-go. Hand hygiene is extremely important to help prevent the spread of enveloped viruses, such as coronavirus.”

These brands provide convenient hygiene to give consumers portable peace of mind. Retailers have reported an increase in sales over recent weeks and we urge them to be prepared for an increase in demand as lockdown restrictions end. Get in touch to discuss.
